June 13, 1976 - Rio Arriba County, New Mexico - Cattle inspectors and law enforcement officials were investigating a typical cattle mutilation case when they noticed a "mysterious trail of suction cup-like impressions." The 3-year-old cow was missing its sexual organs, tongue and one ear.
The indentations were tripodlike, about 4 inches in diameter and 28 inches apart from one another. The tracks stopped about 500 feet away from the carcass. According to the law officer, it was "as if they had landed at that point, gone to the cow and then returned to that point."
The next day, the rancher returned to the spot and found fresh suction-cup prints on top of the tire tracks his truck had made the day before. Several other similar occurences happened in the Dulce area in 1978.
