Cryptozoology is the study of animals not fully known to science. The term, first used in 1959 by Lucien Blancou in a dedication to Bernard Heuvelmans - "master of cryptozoology", is a combination of the Greek words: kryptos, zoon, and logia = hidden, animal and study. In other words, it is the study of hidden animals.
