This is just a quick little article on the history of Bigfoot. The term Bigfoot has turned into a name which can be used for any unknown hairy human-like creature throughout the world. Bigfoot is actually the term for them throughout the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Bigfoot is not to be confused with Sasquatch, the Canadian version. They're most likely the same thing, but who knows for sure?
The name Bigfoot was first used in 1958. A construction worker named Jerry Crew showed up at a newspaper office with a plaster cast of a huge footprint. A picture of him holding the "big foot" was shown across the U.S. The writer for this article in the Humboldt Times, Andrew Genzoli, introduced the creature as Bigfoot and the name has stuck ever since.Sasquatch is used more by researchers and scientists - it sounds a little more respectable. Sasquatch is in fact the official name used for the creatures of British Columbia in Canada. The word Sasquatch isn't actually an Indian word as most people believe. It was made up by Canadian journalist J. W. Burns in the 1920's. Sasquatch was taken as a mix of Indian words to form one word - some of the Indian terms for Bigfoot being sokqueatl,soss-q'tal, and sasqueac. I can't find the actual number right now (I've wasted half an hour), but there are close to 100 different Indian terms for Bigfoot. The history goes back even further when we mention the Native American Indians. Totem poles with Bigfoot-like creatures appear as far back as 500 years ago! With this short and sweet little article on Bigfoot's history far from even beginning, I'll leave you to other sections for more info on stories, pics, videos, hoaxes, credible accounts, etc. etc. & etc. This is just the basics and if I go much deeper into it you'll be scrolling this page for an hour...
