Yes it did clear things up thank you. Now to throw the monkey wrench into things... The years counted as we know them like 2008 is a Christan thing only, other religions and other parts of  the world count time differnt. In China it's like 52000 and something because they count from the beginning of their know excitance and in the Muslum religion it's like still in the 1900's, I think... so does this just blow away any preiction of dated end times? Well,, I definitely think it does, I understand the need for the Gregorian Calendar at the time, shortening the days so that the holidays were on track and all, but there isn't much evidence that the Gregorian Calendar has any more merit than any other cultures calendar.
I definitely think it throws a wrench in setting particular dates for the end of the world.

On a similar subject what does everyone think about the Hopi prophecies?

I'm not sure I'm going to make myself sound understandable and if I don't sorry, let me know and I'll try and do better. The Hopi prophices are made for them only, hard to explain, It's thier religious belife. It's what will happen to them and thier world and not anyone else. They really don't talk about whiteman so what happens doesn't happen to him just the Hopi.

You are absolutely right Groath! The passage is Matthew 24:36-44

"36: No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[a] but only the Father. 37:As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38:For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39:and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40:Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41:Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42:"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43:But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44:So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
 *NIV*

I think it's amusing that so many Christians believe now is "the" time for the second coming, because of all of the natural disasters, politics, and disease. Yet the Bible itself tells them they are not to know the time when Jesus will return. Saying, or even thinking, that this is in fact the "end times" is quite contrary to what the Bible says.

I hope that is not offensive to anyone, if it is I apologize.

As far as the Bible verse goes, I'm not Christian, so it holds no real significance to me, but I can see where that verse would be particularly interesting to Christians. If I'm right the basic point of the verse is to tell all Christians that they should always be prepared for the Second Coming of Christ. I think that idea is applicable to everyone Christian or not. We should always live as though the end could come tomorrow. I believe that is worthy advice for anyone no matter which faith they subscribe to. IMHO

Also, good to see you back Groath!! You've been MIA for a while.  Wink
