Ch-ch-ch-chemo...
« on: August 29, 2011, 04:42:50 PM »

Hello everyone,

Just thought I'd stop in and say hi and let you in on the latest news and my whereabouts.

Finally finished with school and can official call myself a Murse (male nurse... lol). Start a new job tomorrow.

Have a new baby due in February. Blessing in disguise really since I may not be able to have any more children after you read the next news...

And I was diagnosed with testicular cancer back in July as I was finishing my last placement. Had surgery to remove the affected testicle but it may have spread to the lymph nodes. There's debate on it so I'm going the safe route. Started chemotherapy today and looks like I'll be on it for 3 months. Except for the pail sitting next to me so I don't make another mess (lol...) everything's good really. There's over a 95% cure rate with this kind of cancer unless it spreads to the liver or something - which it hasn't. I'm not worried. More a "pain in the Nut" than anything.  Grin

And welcome to all the new members!! I've been lurking here and there but haven't felt up to posting anything so I apologize for not welcoming everyone individually.

And Groath, I hope you feel better soon. Like Tolkus said, I'd seriously look into traveling in some way. Volunteer work in South America or Africa may be worth saving for. Even little day trips to museums or something like that on your own is a good way to break up the monotony. And as for the women, I'm going to marry the one I'm with now, but I was 35 before hooking up with her - and I've known her for 20 years and had a crush on her that entire time! So who knows, 20 years down the road if the woman you want is worth it, it just might happen. Either way, I'm sending a big hug your way my friend.  Smiley

Wow, not sure what to say. Get better soon buddy, sending prayers and healing thoughts your way. I have no doubt you'll be fine. Although a good hat in the sun is something to invest in. My uncle had to go through this too and now he's 100% free of cancer.  BIG congrats on the baby coming!!! Talk about a life changer. Mines about to be 7, where does the time go. They are wonderful and a handful all at once. You'll enjoy being a father. If you need anything or what ever just let me know and I'll do what I can. Take care.

Oh my god, Doug.  No one told me.  You'll get through this as you get through everything.  All of my positive vibes going to you.  Love you and congrats on the new addition.
Strange thing happened the other day.  V called me from T's house and for a second my stomach dropped and I said to C "I hope nothing is going on with Doug".  Undecided
