Psychic Powers or Synaesthesia???

So for those of you who do not know about synaesthesia, it is a psychological condition in which two or more of the senses malfunction in sensory transmission, and comes out with the effect of "seeing" pictures when hearing something, "tasting" music or words, etc.  It is actually a cool effect, and a cool condition to have. For example they might see a letters simple black and white letters like this:



I think I may be synesthetic, but I think it infers with my abilities. For example, I can "see auras" around black and white words, and it might be synaesthesia and psychic abilities mixing in the my mind, but still, it is cool to be able to be both psychic and synesthetic!

What do you think about it, am I synesthetic and it's mixing with my psychic abilties, or is it just synaesthesia separately? And is anybody else experienced this mixing of both, or at least synaesthetic? It is cool to be synaesthetic, and nothing to be ashamed of!

I don't think you got it. I can see those auras and auras around people too. It's just one of your gifts.

lol probably, but apparently, i read that synaesthesia is also when people's mind is very powerful....so thats also a factor in it. either way, its cool!

 I think psychic powers that enable people to see auras might be synaesthesia..I never knew what an aura was until I got of age to look up the meaning. I have  been seeing "Aura's" since I was about 9 or 10 years old. Simply not studied to have thee ability. It came naturally. But does that make us people that can see them different from others? Or why can we see Aura's?...

First welcome to the forum Terrence. It coming natural is a form of psychic ablitity. I too have been able to do this from a very young age. I was lucky enough to grow up around people who understood my gifts and helped me develope them. Some people are born able to see and or do things others can not. It's either a gift or a curse depnding on how you see it. Yes it does make one "differnet" then others but how you take it is up to you. I see my abiitie as a great gift.

Synaesthesia is interesting. I dont know if I have it too. Cool fact I can smell or taste thing from touching them.  For exemple an orange, it can even be none tastebal like plastic its very weird to describe .

That sounds like synaesthesia, but a doctor would be able to tell you better.

synaesthesia i think is not always a form of being able to see auras, because i have heard of people who are synaesthetic and cannot see auras. i think in some it is psychologically that their brain is rewired to cross senses.  some cases, however, are completely about the gifts of the individual.  its weird, but, i have a friend who can tell 100% if you are being sarcastic or serious just on a facebook chat! my friend says that they can see colors associated with emotions behind the words. almost like auras.

maybe people like us just have enough ability to cross psychologically proven to paranormal occurrances. the theories are endless!
