Freemasonry
« on: August 28, 2008, 09:21:18 PM »

Some say that the Freemasons are descendants of the Knights Templar, as we have borrowed symbols and I believe some rituals from them. I am a member of Demolay, which is pretty much a branch of the Freemasons for people under 21. We use a lot of the same rituals as the Masons, and I have participated Mason meetings and rituals as well. I was wondering if anyone had any questions on our rituals and practices, because I've seen people are interested in Templars.
P.S. Not really sure if that all made sense, but it's really late where I live, and I'm about to go to sleep.

I have read and heard that the Freemasions do not claim to be part of the Templars and distant themselves from this accuzation, is this true? Is this group more political or just one of those guys just hanging out clubs(no disrespect intended)?

Lol, that's just a conspiracy theory. Some of the founding fathers were Freemasons, but the government definitely isn't run by us

We are not part of the Templars per se, but some believe we are the descendants of them. We're not really a political group.

Wasn't Jaques DeMolay the head of the Templar organization when they were disbanded by the King? (Phillip right?) If so, is your group named "Demolay" in reference to him? I could be completely wrong here, I will fact check when I finish reading all the posts.

Yup, he was tortured and killed by the king when he wouldn't give up the secrets and names of people of his order.

And....if I remember correctly his dying words on the pyre were a curse that the Pope and King would die within a year. Supposedly they both did. I don't know how true any of that is, but it's an interesting story none-the-less, so I thought I'd throw it in here  Grin

Well the Pope died a year later, the king a few weeks later.
