I believe this is more myth than truth. It's also sometimes refured too as the Lost Dutchmans Mine. But I think they are two different places. The Virgin of Gaudalupa is a sighting or apperance of the Virgin Mary, not a mine. THe Mine your looking for I think had a differnt name, said to be where the Natives of the area went to go to "heaven". Tunnel of the Sun I think it might be called? Many Spanish believed that this was in reality a large gold mine being that it was said by Natives the tunnel shined the color of the sun, gold to the Spanish. A league is a little over a yard, I think, most likely I'm wrong on that, I don't do math. Check that name out again. Let me know what you find out and I'll do what I can in finding stuff on it.  Grin

Here's something, league is about 3.5 miles, a varas is about 33 inches or a little longer but not much. Still working on the mine.  Grin

Groath, I was just watching a show about some treasure that is lost somewhere in the U.S. I wrote the name of it down cause I was thinking that you would love to read about it, but I don't know what I did with the paper. I'll definitely look for it!

Hadn't forgotten about you Groath, still working on it. Thought I had something the other day but it turned out to be the Dutchman mine.

Found some places that sounded very simular, the Lost Vampire Bat Mine and the mines of Guadalupe de Tayopa and also the Lost Jesuit Gold in the Sierra Madre. Any of these sound vaugely familur? Haven't found anything on a Virgin of Guadalupe Mine.  Undecided
