The (Golden Gate) Bridge
« on: January 22, 2007, 10:33:45 PM »

http://fest06.sffs.org/films/film_details.php?id=13

The film debuted last year, but the topic is scarily facinating/facinatingly scary now.
The Bridge is about the Golden Gate Bridge being the "hot spot" for suicide.  I've always known that to be true, but the documentation freaked me out.
This film focuses mainly on the walk across the bridge; the thoughts in this person's head; the background of this victim etc...
I want to see it, but at the same time, I have been in tears watching some of the trailers.
How can one place be a major influence in someone determining their fate and existance?

I've got a lot to say on this topic...but I am going to wait for a response.

maybe it's built over and earth vortice.  These are places that we Indians know of that let emotions, bad spirits  etc. come thru from one plane of existence to another.  Maybe there is a very strong spirit there that pushes a person to the emotional brink so that it won't suffer alone, or maybe there is a being there that feeds off of a persons hyper emotions. Now, you have me curious so this summer, I will drive there and walk(?) across it if they will let me.  Is it in CA or NY?  shows ya what I know outside of the desert and Oregon beaches!

I also think that it has something to do with the need to jump off high things.  It's a kind of phenomenon, I think.
Awhile back, my sister and I went to this place called Skinner's Bluff.  It's on top of the Niagra Escarpment and is very high up.  The scenery is beautiful, but it was a scary place to be.  My sister and I stood on the edge of the escarpment and  both got dizzy.  It's almost like your brain is playing Double Dare with you or something!

Actually, the bridges are a popular place for suicides in general, the Golden Gate Bridge just being one of the most talked about suicide bridges. I agree with HJ of the jumping off high things phenomenon.

I was there this September and it is pretty creepy. Not just the feelings you get while there but it's always foggy and the old prison Alcatraz is right there in the bay as well which harbored some of the worst criminals in the U.S.

I'll see if I can post one of my pictures.

This pic is from being under the bridge. Pretty creepy huh.
