So, let's talk about vampires. I just read Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" and "New Moon" in record time. Each one took me a day. I love a good vampire story, and these, young adult fiction notwithstanding, were superb! If you haven't read them, get thee to a bookstore!

I've always loved vampires since I was young. It was all about romance.
Anyhow, the book Ghost by Catherine Ramsland is about her real-life journey into finding out what happened to that newscaster who was researching Vampyres (Y! haha!) What I gathered is that they mix the blood (which they don't suck, they inject) with heroin so the vampYre thinks they are addicted to blood.
Now, there are cases where a person is, in fact, a vampire of sorts. For instance, Vincenz Verzeni craved blood back in the late 1800s. More recently (well, the '60s), Florencio Fernandez drank the blood of 15 women, during the night and while they were sleeping mind you! Richard Chase (in the late 70s) also murdered for the blood.
Anyhow, taking pride in the fact that my grandparents were from Transylvania, they hadn't heard the tales of Vlad the Impaler being a Vampire until they came to this country! He was just an historical, evil ruler.
Oh, I love me some Nosferatu!

The only vampires I've ever run up on are psy vampires. The rest are people with either blood fetish or hooked on hollywood.

I've always loved vampires since I was young. It was all about romance. Mo too! I love the romantic version of vampires. Have you read the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice? That is my all time favorite Vampire series, actually, in my opinion they are the best books I've ever read. Along with the tales of the Mayfair witches. Anne Rice is probably my all time favorite author. I love anything by her, and I'm pretty sure I've read all, if not most of her work. I HIGHLY suggest her books to anyone, although her books are all in a series, so you have to read them in order. Both the Vampire chronicles and the Mayfair Witch series are a fairly big series, so you have to start from the beginning. Now that I'm thinking of them I wish I hadn't given them away (I almost NEVER reread a book), I think that would be one of the few I would reread. Anyhow, the book Ghost by Catherine Ramsland is about her real-life journey into finding out what happened to that newscaster who was researching Vampyres (Y! haha!) What I gathered is that they mix the blood (which they don't suck, they inject) with heroin so the vampYre thinks they are addicted to blood.. I've heard you mention this book, "Ghost", a couple of times now, I really should look for it, it sounds like a very good book. I had never heard anything about a missing newscaster that was researching vamps. I am definitely planning on getting it at some point. I've also never heard of people mixing the blood with heroin and injecting it. Wouldn't they know that it was the heroin that were craving and not blood? That really is interesting! Now, there are cases where a person is, in fact, a vampire of sorts. For instance, Vincenz Verzeni craved blood back in the late 1800s. More recently (well, the '60s), Florencio Fernandez drank the blood of 15 women, during the night and while they were sleeping mind you! Richard Chase (in the late 70s) also murdered for the blood... I had heard of Richard Chase (b/c of my morbid fascinatrion with serial killers and psychopaths ), but I had never heard of the other 2. I will be doing some interesting reading tonight! Isn't there a disease that makes one crave blood? Something like Pica (cravings for strange things)? I will have to look into that also. Thanks HJ! You always give me great ideas to look into when you post! Anyhow, taking pride in the fact that my grandparents were from Transylvania, they hadn't heard the tales of Vlad the Impaler being a Vampire until they came to this country! He was just an historical, evil ruler I've heard that also, that he wasn't actually a vampire, but that he was a true socio/psychopath. Isn't he the one that cut off peoples heads and impaled them on posts outside of his castle? Or perhaps that is just more sensationalism. How awesome that your G-parents were from Transylvania! Oh, I love me some Nosferatu! Nooooo...not you Tolkus : You were mentioning psyvamps, I am just recently learning about them, so feel free to tell me more

Vlad Dracul did impell people, alive. He did this to the aristacrates of Walachia(sp). He also did this to Turkish prisoners. He got the nick name from impelling a couple of hundred Truk prisoners after poisioning the water supply and buring down the town and fields. It worked, the Sultan of Trukey withdrew his attack oweing to the fact that anyone like this was dangerious to pursue.
Psyvamps are people who drain the life energy or energy from people. Like when your hyper then have a sudden unknown crash, that is what it kind of feels like when they feed on your energy. Most will only take a little so it's not to noticable, like in a crowd of people they can feed all night and no one is the wiser. The problem with them is that they tend to leave the victom not only drained but depressed or with a negitive attiude, most don't know they do that. Some people are vamps and don't even realize it. They don't do it on purpose, it just happens when they get excited or find themselves in need of an energy boost and then oh there it is unexplained to them. Then there are those who have willing energy donors. Some do this as a way to gain power over another. Some can impose their will over thier victom and dominate them for a time period. This too passes after a while, but there are those that get off on that. Stoping one is actually quite simple and they don't even notice it. You do have to be aware that they are draining you. Once you are grab the connection and then loop it back into the vamp and then they are feeding off of themselves without knowing it. It's kind of like recycling air over and over, after a while the energy gets weak and they stop the feeding then move on, but if you can put a little sting in it when you loop them they tend to get the message and they will stop for a while.

The fact that Vlad Tepes is a vampire is just an invention of the writer called Bram Stoker http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dracula .But yes the romanians liked to give names for they're leaders and how you can see the father of Vlad was named Dracul that means "The Demon",i think that my country is still under mistery so yes it's a little possibility that vampires from here exist.

have you heard of the condition that has a big long scientific-y name thats nicknamed "vampirism"? its actually a genetic condition in which the person has pale skin and sensitivity to sunlight, yet they are not albino. in the 19th century, physicians believed that blood would make them strong, more specifically human blood, so they had willing "donors" similar to the modern day medical blood banks. thats the condition that Vlad the Impaler had, or so they think, and since he was cruel and torturous, and told by those physicians, to drink human blood as a remedy, people believed that he tortured the people and then drank their blood. it was a misconception about what can now be aided with medicine, and a rumor that spun out-of-hand.
