TV Shows About Hauntings
« on: December 28, 2006, 12:19:58 AM »

Please discuss them here.  I realize that most of the people on this board are in Canada, and I'm in the States, so our shows may not match up, but let's try anyway!

I've been watching Celebrity Paranormal Project on VH-1 (basically, just like MTV's FEAR, but with B- and C-list celebs) and have a few things that I'd like to say about it and no one to really say them to.  Which is why I'm so glad I've found this place!  Anyway, here's what's on my mind:

  • Are any of these places really haunted, or is this more of a study in people's reactions when experiencing extreme fear?  I realize that most of the stuff they hear (the screams, the clunks, etc.) are bats or underpaid production assistants, but I'm wondering if there's any truth in there.
  • Why in the world would they ask these idiot celebs to taunt the spirits by replaying some of the most painful aspects of their existence or demise?
  • Why in the world would anyone who was not a trained medium/psychic invite a spirit into them simply because the script tells them to?

Ok, even if no one responds, it kind of feels good to just get that out of my system!

That's downright mean of these D-listers to taunt the dead.  I've never heard of this show.
When you come over, I'll take you to the place V and I have artshows (mcKenzie Hall, Doug).  It's supposedly the most active place in Ontario and the currator (Gus, Doug) told me a bunch of weird things.
On a side note, I gave Doug my Robert Curran's Haunted.  Whether or not he read it, I'll never know.  Anyhow, Zig is the one who told me about it.  Scariest.  Book.  Ever.

I think so too (re: it being mean), not to mention I think it could be dangerous as a lot of the locations have violent pasts (cult commune, prisons, murder sites, etc.).

Oh, man.  Do they go to the Heaven's Gate warehouse?

Gifts come with curses, curses come with gifts.

some provocation is a got way to get the spirit to respond, and also it could trigger the haunting, if it is a residual haunting.
